Abstract
In this article, a piezoelectric hybrid element is presented and optimized by penalty equilibrium approach, and special crack surface element is suggested for exactly implementing the boundary conditions on crack surface. An iteration technique is used to treat one of the electric boundary conditions. Then, a piezoelectric material with crack is numerically studied by the optimized hybrid element method, and the results are compared with the analytical solutions. The stress and the electrical displacement fields with different crack surface conditions are studied, and the influence to those fields arisen by the far field mechanical and electric loading is also studied.
