Abstract
⺠The progress and advances made in the development of hypoxanthine biosensors over the past four decades have been reviewed. ⺠Current and future use of electrochemical and screen printed electrodes with nanomaterials are highlighted. ⺠Benefits and limitations of the devices for fish and meat quality assessment are identified.
