Abstract
► A rapid and reliable novel method, LDTD-APCI-MS/MS was developed for carbamazepine analysis. ►Total analysis time reduced to seconds with LDTD-APCI-MS/MS as compared to minutes with LC-MS/MS. ► LDTD-APCI-MS/MS could be used for emerging contaminants quantification with reduced cost and without solvent. ► Accelerated solvent extraction showed better efficiency as compared to ultrasonic and microwave assisted extraction. ► Carbamazepine was present in all the process streams of Quebec City's wastewater treatment plant.
