Abstract
A novel deterministic solver for solving rarefied flow of gases of arbitrary statistics is developed based on semiclassical Boltzmann-BGK equation. The discrete ordinate method is firstly applied to discretize the velocity space resulting in a set of hyperbolic equations with source terms which are to be carried out using conservation element/solution element scheme. The method is tested on one-dimensional shock tube problems.
► An algorithm for the semi-classical-BGK equation is presented. ► The discrete ordinate method is applied to discretize the velocity space of the function. ► Second order CE/SE scheme is implemented. ► The algorithm is implemented for solving 1-D flows at very low densities.
