Abstract
⺠We review the effects of lipids on protein-mediated transmembrane transport. ⺠Ion channels are the best characterized examples of lipid regulation. ⺠There is some evidence for lipid modulation of primary and secondary transport. ⺠Molecular mechanisms are elucidated by combining experiment and simulation.
