Abstract
Long chain alcohol have the potential to become an alternative of fuel ethanol, due to their outstanding combustion properties. Succinic acid is an important platform compound of wide applications. Biofuel and chemicals produced with lignocellusic materials is a promising option for biorefinery development. During the production of long chain alcohol by microorganisms, large amount of CO2 will be generated, while CO2 can be used as raw material for succinic acid fermentation. To introduce the knowledge about the implications of co-production process, a review on the utilization of lignocellulosic biomass for long chain alcohol and succinic acid production and CO2 mitigation are presented.
