Abstract
Lignocellulose presents a valuable renewable carbon source to access tailor-made monomers and polymers. Despite numerous reports on biomass-based platform chemicals and their further transformation, market entrance of bio-polymers produced from lignocellulose remains limited. We herein provide a perspective on challenges and opportunities associated with the path to application along some of the most prominent candidates of platform chemicals.
