Abstract
This mini-review highlights recent advances in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) from an environmental perspective. We first focus on environmental syntheses and processing of MOFs for enhanced industrial applicability, safety and recyclability. We then continue with a discussion about the potential of MOFs in a selection of environmentally significant research including decontamination, followed by gas storage and separation applications, making emphasis on dense gas-fuel storage. Finally, we include a discussion on the burgeoning field of MOFs and MOF-derivatives for energy generation and storage.
