Abstract
Investigation of hockling phenomenon in single- and multiple-rope systems was carried out at Allseas Engineering BV. The results are summarised with respect to prevention of this type of instabilities during offshore operations. The results of experimental testing on loop forming for scale-model ropes are presented. The critical locations in the developed A&R (Abandonment & Recovery) system have been revealed and accounted for during the design.
