Abstract
The turning rack component of vehicle was ruptured when it was bumped into a roadside stone. A failure analysis of the fractured turning rack component has been presented, and a series of examination of the trace, materials quality, the fracture surface analysis of turning rack component of vehicle have been described in this paper. Simulate experiments at room and low temperature and fracture investigation reveal that the fracture of the rack is one-off brittle failure. The results of the investigation indicate that the inherent reason of failure is the ductile-brittle transition temperature being higher than using temperature; the exterior reason is the cartwheel edge bumped by foreign object.
