The paper presents a novel concept of an autofrettage compounded tube which has been modelled for the autofrettage process by using a Huang's model (2005) for modelling reverse yielding due to Bauschinger effect. The autofrettage and post autofrettage machining has been validated using finite element methods on ANSYS13. The post autofrettage machining has been simulated on finite element methods by using element death based modelling. The compounding of the tube has been modelled using the combination of analytical model and Huang's model. The compounded tube gives a high maximum safe pressure, good fatigue life and manufacturing economy in terms of reduced autofrettage pressure leading to the reduction in the maintenance of a hydraulic autofrettage plant.
