Abstract
Based on the coupled constitutive and governing equations, this paper presents a finite element approach in mixed ionic electronic conductors (MIECs) to study the electrochemomechanical coupling behavior accounting for mechanical deformation, ionic diffusion and electric performance. The numerical implementation with UEL (user-defined element) subroutines in commercial software ABAQUS is made and verified in comparison with some previous results. To investigate the performance of MIECs, this paper considers the influence of mechanical boundary conditions and some parameters, i.e., coefficients of compositional expansion (CCE), the applied voltage, the diffusion coefficients and the dielectric constant. The developed finite element method allows one to assess and design the MIECs.
