Abstract
A number of silver(I) para-substituted diphenyl phosphine complexes in a 1:2Â M ratio, were synthesised and fully characterised. Characterisation includes NMR, FTIR, elemental analysis as well as the determination of the molecular structure (SCXRD). The cytotoxicity of the complexes were evaluated against a malignant SNO (oesophageal) cell line. The result indicated that these complexes showed potential anticancer properties due to a significant decrease in cellular viability after the treatment with the complexes. Morphological studies of the cells indicated that the mode of cell death could possibly be due to apoptosis.72
