Abstract
A new coordination compound with 1-D chain-like structure, [ZnL2(4,4â²-bipy)]n (L = meta-aminobenzoate; 4,4â²-bipy = 4,4â²-bipyridine), has been synthesized. The photoluminescence study indicates that compound exhibits a very broad emissive band (λem,max = 520 nm) when illuminated by 370 nm light, where the high-energy and low-energy components are tentatively ascribed to ligand-centered and interligand transition, respectively, on the basis of experimental and theoretical data.
