Abstract
⺠The recently discovered family of proteins responsible for secondary metal-citrate transport, CitMHS, is described. ⺠The relevant metal-citrate coordination chemistry and specifically that of iron are presented. ⺠Medicinal applications, such as the development of vaccines against gram-positive pathogens, are also discussed.
