Abstract
⺠Phosphinomethylamines ligands containing a proton relay were studied. ⺠Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes containing these ligands is reported. ⺠Electrocatalytic studies show they function as proton reduction catalysts. ⺠Proton reduction studies of non-proton relay containing complexes show no catalysis. ⺠Proton relays are essential for catalytic production of H2 in these complexes.
