Abstract
High level ZnCl2 induces murine photoreceptor cells to generate excessive reactive oxygen species and cytochrome c release, decrease ATP production, collapse mitochondrial membrane potential, disrupt the balance between BCL2-associated X and B cell CLL/lymphoma 2, finally initiate mitochondria-mediated apoptotic signaling pathway, leading to cell death.224
