Abstract
Three copper(II) compounds containing sulfonamides and (N^N)-bidentate ligands were prepared and showed nuclease properties, cleaving plasmid DNA at low micromolar concentration. Both sulfonamide and (N^N)-ligand modulate the magnitude and preferred mode of interaction with DNA. The nuclease activity of the compounds correlates with their promising antimycobacterial and antiproliferative activities.75
