Abstract
A peroxynitrite scavenger, 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrinato iron(III) chloride (FeTPPS), catalyzes tyrosine nitration in bovine serum albumin, rat brain homogenate and cultured cells in the presence of H2O2 and NO2â. Interestingly, hydrophilic FeTPPS can catalyze tyrosine nitration in hydrophilic sites, whereas hydrophobic porphyrin heme can only catalyze tyrosine nitration in hydrophobic sites.332
