Abstract
The putative Aptenodytes forsteri (Emperor penguin) aromatase catalyzes the transformation of androstenedione to estrone through the same steroidal intermediates utilized by the human enzyme and pre-steady state analyses of their binding kinetics reveal that these, as well as the inhibitor anastrozole, utilize a multi-step mechanism.208
