Abstract
Mn(II) and Fe(II) bind at the human H ferritin (hHFt) ferroxidase centre with the formation of a heterodimetallic cofactor. Our experiments (UV-Vis ferroxidation kinetics, fluorimetric titrations, Mössbauer, and EPR spectroscopies) show that this heterodimetallic cofactor influences Fe(II) binding to hHFt and the efficiency of the ferroxidation reaction.123
