Abstract
NADPH oxidase-1 (NOX1) and a dual oxidase (DUOX)-related peroxidase (POD) domain establish HOCl signaling and apoptosis induction in malignant cells. Membrane-associated catalase (CAT) of bona fide tumor cells interferes with this process. HOCl mediates apoptosis induction through interaction with superoxide anions and triggers immunogenic modulation (IM) through modification of antigens.189
