Abstract
Neurons progressively degenerate, instigated-exacerbated through Cu(II)-mediated oxidative stress. Catechin encapsulation in poly(ethyleneglycol) (PEG)/cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)-modified hybrid nanoparticles enhances the antioxidant capacity of the flavonoid, influencing Cu(II) toxicity, cell loss and neuronal morphological lesions in primary rat hippocampal cultures. The bioactivity profile of such newly arisen nanomaterials projects potential neuroprotective nanotechnologies.179
