Influence of chelation strength and bacterial uptake of gallium salicylidene acylhydrazide on biofilm formation and virulence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa

The Fe(III) mimetic Ga(III) can exhibit both antibiofilm and antivirulence effects on the Gram-negative bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Here the uptake and biological effect of three different Ga(III) complexes are investigated and compared with respect to complex metal chelation strength. Determination of equilibrium constants is performed for one of the complexes.150
