Abstract
Selenoproteins are of special importance for γ-aminobutyric acidergic parvalbumin + interneurons. Dopamine and acetylcholine pathways seem also to be involved. Mechanisms may be related to antioxidant properties and to affecting inflammation, protein phosphorylation, calcium homeostasis etc. For selenoprotein P signalling function was proposed through interaction with post-synaptic apolipoprotein E receptor 2.151
