Abstract
Aqueous solution behaviour of copper(II)-fluoroquinolone (FQ)-complexes with and without 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) were studied. Under physiological conditions only the ternary copper(II):FQ:phen complexes are stable hence they were synthesised and characterised. Microbiological studies suggested a distinct entry route for the FQ and metallocomplexes, a way to counteract microbial resistance to FQ.158
