Abstract
Nuclear receptors (NRs) are ligand-responsive transcription factors involved in diverse cellular processes ranging from metabolism to circadian rhythms. NRs contain redox-active thiols prone to oxidation by reactive oxygen species (ROS). Thiol oxidation negatively regulates ligand and DNA binding, and nuclear import. LBD, ligand-binding domain; DBD, DNA-binding domain.
