Abstract
⺠The spectral characterizations of Bi3+ binding to thionein are described. ⺠A new Bi3+ coordination mode in Bi7-MT is proposed. ⺠The oxygen donating to Bi3+ is found to derive from a carboxyl group of aspartate.
