4′-Functionalized 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridines as the NˆN domain in [Ir(CˆN)2(NˆN)][PF6] complexes

We report the colour-tuning of the emission maxima and electrochemical behaviour of [Ir(CˆN)2(NˆN)]+ complexes in which the NˆN ligand is a bidentate 4′-functionalized 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine (4′-Rtpy); structural data for four complexes are reported and the assembly of hydrogen-bonded chloride-water ribbons in [Ir(ppy)2(4′-EtOtpy)]Cl·2H2O·MeCN.280
