Abstract
α,αâ²-Diaminoalkane-bridged dicarbonyl(η5-cyclopentadienyl)ruthenium(II) complexes were synthesized, characterized by IR, NMR, elemental analysis and single crystal X-ray crystallography, and their antimicrobial activity tested against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Some of the complexes tested possess potential antimicrobial activity against both known drug resistant and drug susceptible bacteria. The activity of the complexes increases with increase in concentration. The ruthenium(II) complexes are more active against the bacteria than the uncoordinated ligands.
