Abstract
The chloride salt of the cation [(p-MeC6H4Pri)2Ru2(SC6H4-p-But)3]+, called diruthenium-1, shows high anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo. With IC50 values in the nanomolar range, this compound prolongs significantly the survival of tumour-bearing mice. Diruthenium-1 activates p53, decreases the intracellular concentration of glutathione and inhibits the mitochondrial respiration.85
