Synthesis, crystal structures, and dye removal properties of a series of discrete and polymeric copper, zinc, cobalt, and cadmium complexes containing bis-pyridyl-bis-amine ligands

This work reports the formation of the mononuclear complexes 1 and 3, the 1D helical chain 2, the 1D double-stranded zigzag chain 5, the 2D kgm layer 4, and the Cu(I)-Cu(II) mixed-valence compound 6 from a racemic mixture of trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane-derived bis-pyridyl-bis-amine ligands, in which the chain polymers 2 and 5 provide immediately applicable to dye removal.236
