Abstract
Using Ca metal as the reducing agent, a series of reduced vanadium silicates CaxLn1âxVSiO5 (Ln = Ce-Nd, Sm-Lu, Y) was synthesized utilizing BaCl2/NaCl flux. The 3D structure, which belongs to the tilasite (CaMgAsO4F) structure type consists of 1D VO6 octahedra, SiO4 groups, and (Ca/Ln)O7 polyhedra. The magnetic susceptibility data of the series support the existence of antiferromagnetic behavior at low temperatures.258
