Abstract
Coordination polymers across the lanthanide series were obtained from simple solution chemistry. Bright luminescence and high quantum efficiency was achieved for several members of the series. Structural features for optimal luminescence include strong UV absorption and energy transfer from ligands, wide spacing between luminescent centers that eliminates concentration quenching, luminescent site asymmetry, and complete absence of water in the lattice.272
