Syntheses of six and twelve membered borophosphate ring structure with nonlinear optical activity

Borophosphates are an important class because their fascinating structural chemistry. Our attentions are directed towards the syntheses of such compounds. So two borophosphate compounds i.e., Li3Cs2Ba2B3P6O24, 1 and RbBaBP2O8, 2 having 3D framework of 6 and 12 membered ring containing BO4 and PO4 tetrahedra have been synthesized via solid state reaction. RbBaBP2O8, 2 exhibits moderate SHG 0.5 and 2.5 times that of KDP and SiO2, which can be compared to others borophosphate compounds.170
