Abstract
Population genetic structure of pumpkin fruit fly, Bactrocera tau in Himachal Pradesh (India) analyzed with mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (mtCOI) gene suggested that B. tau populations across the state is homogeneous with non-significant variation of 0.002-0.009 base substitutions per site. Minimum spanning network of the 10 mitochondrial haplotypes observed in a set of 16 individuals from 6 populations of B. tau collected from Himachal Pradesh (India). B. tau isolates collected from Himachal Pradesh (India) were clustered with B. tau species A (Thailand) when compared with different species of B. tau complex of Thailand.
