Abstract
⺠Very high genetic diversity was present in all five clam populations (He = 0.813). ⺠No significant differences among the localities were detected. ⺠A significant global FST indicates genetic heterogeneity among the populations. ⺠There are three genetically distinct regions: a western coastal region and two southern ones. ⺠The southern groups would have a higher conservation priority due to their unique genetic characteristics.
