Abstract
► Genetic diversity of Schizothorax prenanti from plateau Lake Wuxu was investigated. ► The lake population showed lower genetic variability compared to river populations. ► The lake population significantly differentiated from river populations. ► The low genetic variability had not affected the viability of the lake population.
