Abstract
⺠Substituted phthalonitriles are highly potent reversible MAO-B inhibitors. ⺠Benzonitriles are weaker MAO-B inhibitors than phthalonitriles. ⺠The nitrile group is particularly suited for MAO-B inhibition.
