Abstract
Based on the experimental results, a uniaxial stress-based fatigue failure model was first proposed to predict the fatigue life by addressing uniaxial ratchetting–fatigue interaction. In the uniaxial model, the fatigue and ratchetting damages were reflected by axial stress amplitude and maximum axial stress, respectively. A parameter FP was defined by introducing a weight factor of ratchetting damage and correlated with the life. Then, the model is extended to multiaxial version by adding a factor describing the effect of multiaxial loading path. The proposed model provides good prediction to the uniaxial and multiaxial fatigue lives of the materials with different cyclic softening/hardening features.
