Abstract
This article is the written version of a keynote presentation given at the Hypervelocity Impact Symposium in Williamsburg VA in September 2007, in response to accepting the Distinguished Scientist Award from the Hypervelocity Impact Society. As is the tradition, this article is a summary of the technical work performed throughout the career of the award recipient. It covers a range of numerical algorithms and computational material models for high-velocity impact and other intense impulsive loading conditions.
