Abstract
Schematic encapsulation of small molecules in root starch matrices. (a) The molecule is embedded in the powdery potato starch. (b) The cartoon highlights the cross-section of starch complex assembly containing ordered small molecules (yellow-bluish) in the network, viewed down the helix-axis. The small molecules securely trapped between six starch helices and held through hydrogen bonds and van der Waals interactions gain protection from external influences.
