Abstract
- The study reports the discovery of a novel and rarely occurring sugar that accumulated under osmotic stress in a halotolerant bacterium, Planococcus maritimus VITP21.
- The novel amino-sugar was identified to be (2-acetamido-2-deoxy-α-d-glucopyranosyl)-(1â2)-β-d-fructofuranose using various NMR techniques.
- The identified sucrose derivative was shown to have protective effects on the thermodynamic stability of model enzyme α-amylase.
