Abstract
⺠The planar polypyridyl platinum(II) complexes are avid binders to ct-DNA. ⺠The polypyridyl platinum(II) complexes show dual binding modes to ct-DNA. ⺠The (pydppz)Pt(II) complexes are photocytotoxic in HeLa cells in blue light. ⺠Apoptotic cell death is evidenced from the AO/EB staining and FACS data.
