Abstract
The effect of the polymers (poly(2-(2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-β-d-glucosyloxy)ethylmetha-crylate) and poly(2-(2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-β-d-galactosyloxy)ethylmethacrylate)) with molecular weights (Mw) of 10,000-18,000 g/mol and a PDI from 1.1 to 1.2 on the crystallization of calcium carbonate was studied. For the deprotected polymers differences in the phase selection of CaCO3 were observed. This effect is based on the chelating character of the OH-motif of the pyranoses.
