Abstract
A series of monofunctional benzoxazine monomers with terminal unsaturated alkyl chains are synthesized from two renewable platform chemicals: 10-undecenoic and 4-pentenoic acids. The monofunctional monomers are dimerized under mild conditions by hydrosilylation using two difunctional silanes. This synthetic approach allows preparing different benzoxazine structures by combining different aliphatic and silane moieties. The resulting easily processable α,Ï-bis-benzoxazines are polymerized thermically leading polybenzoxazine materials with different toughness, flexibility and surface polarity properties.
