Abstract
•Analytical solution of large deflection of Reissner׳s beam subject to three point bending is present.•Three type of supports are discussed: simple supports, roller supports and hinged supports.•The solution for each type of support is illustrated by load-deflection diagrams.
In this article, an analytical solution for the deflection of a Reissner׳s beam under a force acting at the midpoint between two supports is given. Three types of beams are considered: simply supported, roller supported, and hinge supported. The solution for each type is illustrated by load-deflection diagrams, tables of reference values, and examples of deformed beam shapes.
