Abstract
A series of new ladder polymers are synthesized from tetrafunctional fluoro derivatives of 2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzonitrile and various dihydroxy aryl compounds by nucleophilic substitution reactions under mild conditions (RT-60â¯Â°C). The MALDI-TOF MS analysis confirms that polymer chain repeating unit consists of one tetrafunctional fluorine moiety and two bisphenoxy units thereby showing the prevalence of ladder structure in the polymer backbone. Additionally these ladder polymers exhibit porous natures and the porosity of the polymers are tuneable with PFBN substitution reaction and also by the choice of bisphenol.196
