Abstract
Angle-resolved ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (ARUPS) was performed for coronene monolayers deposited on Ag(111) showing that the polarization dependence of the silver sp-bands is changed by the molecular adlayer. The change was observed at back-folded replicas of the substrate bands and is reminiscent of the Ï-bands of epitaxial graphene. A transfer of the molecule's Ï-character to the silver sp-bands is concluded to cause the graphene-like properties observed.
