Abstract
The present study is devoted to characterize the dielectric and electro optical parameters of the nematic liquid crystal NLC 2020 and core/shell quantum dots (CSQD)â¯+â¯NLC composite system with dielectric properties being considered in both planar and homeotropic standpoint. The investigation shows enhancement in the performance of NLC by dispersing small (0.1â¯wt%) concentrations of (CSQD). Estimation of total power loss (TPL), specific power loss (SPL) along with high figure-of-merit (FoM) and faster electro- optical response are the promising results of this investigation. Parameters like response time, rotational viscosity, viscoelastic coefficient has been changed substantially for different composite system (0.1â¯wt% and 0.25â¯wt% conc.). Total power loss (TPL) and Specific power loss (SPL) have been analyzed in the present study. The investigation reveals that smaller concentration (0.1â¯wt%) gives better results as compared to 0.25â¯wt%. The motive of the present investigation is to evaluate TPL, SPL and to improve material parameter figure-of-merit for better performance of NLC based devices.
